Take Charge of Your Future

President Barack Obama, interrupted by three dozen standing ovations in his first official address before Congress, challenged Americans to better compete in the global economy by creating opportunity through higher education.

“And so tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training,” Obama said to a joint session of Congress. “This can be community college or a four-year school; vocational training or an apprenticeship. But whatever the training may be, every American will need to get more than a high school diploma.”

For the Certified Wedding Planner and those who aspire to become a wedding planner, this call to action, backed by billions of dollars for education stimulus in recently approved economic legislation, from a president who committed over a decade of his life to teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School, is timely and reassuring.

In an economy in crisis, opportunity awaits those who seek betterment through self improvement and career training. Whether it is through a certification program or continuing education, each of us owes it to ourselves and our society to step forward and take charge of our future.

Each individual should be a life-long learner. Now is the time to follow your dreams and become a certified wedding planner. As Satchel Paige said, “Work like you don’t need the money. Love like you’ve never been hurt. Dance like nobody’s watching.” Words to live by.

I stand behind hind what Obama says about education. It is so important for people to study and to keep on doing so. Education is an amzing thing and it gives people more tools than they can imagine. Education also opens many doors in the career field and opens a person’s eye to what they can accomplish with their knowledge. Wisdom is power and that is an important thing to have in a person’s life. Every set a person takes to further their education I feel the more they will be accomplsihed and the higher their self esteem will be. That is why I am enrolled in the program!

Education is the best way to ensure your future. The best way to avoid a layoff is to be your own boss. That is the great thing about being a CWP, you control your destiny.

I think education is so very important, we all should never stop learning. Even if people are not attending school, they should be taking workshops, and reading books, to learn, and keep learning all though there lives. The more you know, the more power you have to change things, and help yourself. Its the best way too be a leader in your own life.

I think in this economic crisis that we are in, it is imperative that we look for opportunities to expand out minds, our earning potetial and how we can help others. As someone currently in college full time, I am experiencing first hand the importance of education. The job market is tough right now and expanding your skill set is imperative to finding opportunity. The WPI has been another great way to expand my knowledge - my school doesn’t offer event planning courses, so the WPI allowed me to fulfill my goals. Hopefully this will alow me to make my own business opportunity by starting my own event planning business.

I think that higher education is a must to further your career endeavors. Although I have two degrees, I am still seeking the perfect job. So after several layoffs and reduction in salary, I decided to follow my passion and start my own business and become a wedding planner. I know this is the best move I have taken so far.
