Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is wedding planning a career I can start off working part-time and then decide to go to full-time and will the program prepare me for this?
Yes. As with any new business, the first year in business is the most critical. Wedding planning is no exception. The Fast Track Wedding Planning Certification covers what you need to know about structuring your wedding planning business and more importantly, how to earn an income. You will map out your business plan and have all of the tools you need to expand and build your business based on your own personal situation and goals.
How much time does a student need to dedicate to the Fast Track Wedding Planning Certification Program?
Most students work full-time while taking the class and can easily accommodate the course workload. The class is based on eight weeks of study, to provide structure for participating students. The self-study allows the flexibility to work at your own pace, so a student can take as much time as needed to complete the program. If a student is anxious to get started, we recommend the one-day seminar.
Why do I need to include a cover letter, resume and references to enroll in the Degree Program at WPI?
The Wedding Planning Institute upholds the highest standards in the industry and requires all degree students to include a brief cover letter on why they want to enroll in the program, a resume (this does not need to reflect any wedding history, just to show a work history) and three references. References can be a combination of personal and/or business and a letter of reference OR three names and contact information . WPI does accept all students if they submit an application in full, but WPI does require that all documentation be included. WPI reserves the right to not accept a student based on incomplete application, non-US citizen or if the student is under 18.
Is Your Program Accredited?
While the Wedding Industry has seen explosive growth over the last ten years, the profession has only recently entered small colleges and vocational schools as non-credit course work. The Wedding Planning Institute is the only dedicated program in the industry pursuing accreditation of our certification and courses to meet the standards and requirements by Federally recognized U.S. Accrediting Organizations. [Accrediting organizations that are “recognized” have been reviewed for quality by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the United States Department of Education (USDE).] Our Certification is currently undergoing accreditation and therefore does not qualify for any federal loans. However, our curriculum is utilized by hundreds of accredited colleges and universities who do offer financial aid and federal loan assistance. These institutions have done extensive research into the industry (just as you are) to find The Wedding Planning Institute’s program to be of collegiate material and the most comprehensive education available to new and existing wedding planners. For that reason, we are actively pursuing accreditation. The Wedding Planning Institute's Fast Track Certification is recognized by The Association for Wedding Professionals International and The American Society of Wedding Planners. Our course has been chosen over many others in the industry due to its approach to teaching our students the business side of wedding planning and not just planning weddings. To address the demands of the industry our programs are created for real-world application including hands-on learning at real weddings and assisting real wedding planners. This also includes site visits, group role-playing, vignettes and other ways to practice for actual business objectives or work settings in the day-to-day of wedding planning.
