The Future Looks Bright
As the industry leader for education and instruction for wedding professionals, The Wedding Planning Institute seeks to meet the highest standards of Certification Accreditation from organizations approved by the U.S. Government’s
Department of Education.
With a growing network of over 1800 colleges and universities offering our curriculum, The Wedding Planning Institute strives to lead the way by providing the first 2-year degree program offered and recognized by the department of education’s approved list of accrediting organizations. This program is the first of its kind recognizing Wedding Planning as a professional career option for thousands of individuals who aspire to be or currently work in the wedding planning profession.
The Wedding Planning Institute is a member of NOCA,
The Institute for Credentialing Excellence (formerly NOCA),
The American Association of Community Colleges, and
LERN, Learning Resource Network.
Established in 1977,
The Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) is the leader in setting quality standards for credentialing organizations. Through its annual conference, regional seminars, and publications, ICE serves its membership as a clearinghouse for information on the latest trends and issues of concern to practitioners and organizations focused on certification, licensure, and human resource development.
The National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) was created in 1987 by ICE to help ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the public through the accreditation of a variety of certification programs/organizations that assess professional competence. Certification programs that receive NCCA Accreditation demonstrate compliance with the NCCA’s Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs, which were the first standards for professional certification programs developed by the industry.
NCCA uses a peer review process to: establish accreditation standards; evaluate compliance with the standards; recognize organizations/programs which demonstrate compliance; and serve as a resource on quality certification. Certification organizations that submit their programs for accreditation are evaluated based on the process and products, not the content, and are therefore applicable to all professions and industries.

Today, AACC’s membership represents close to 95 percent of all accredited U.S. two-year community, junior and technical colleges and their 10.5 million students, as well as a growing number of international members in Puerto Rico, Japan, Great Britain, Korea, and the United Arab Emirates. The colleges are the largest and fastest-growing sector of U.S. higher education, enrolling close to half (45 percent) of all U.S. undergraduates.
Headquartered in the National Center for Higher Education in Washington, D.C., AACC is the primary advocacy organization for community colleges at the national level and works closely with directors of state offices to inform and affect state policy. In addition, AACC is a member of “The Six” large, presidentially based associations and collaborates with a wide range of entities within the higher education community to monitor and influence federal policy and to collaborate on issues of common interest. The association has ongoing interaction with key federal departments and agencies including the U.S. departments of Labor, Education, Energy, Homeland Security, and Commerce and the National Science Foundation.
