Love Resist Recession
Part Four: Financial Experts Debate Recession, Wedding Industry Finds Love
Part Four: Wedding Planning Students Flock to Community Colleges for Distance Learning Recession Solutions
Traditionally, our national community college network has served to provide higher education opportunities to our diverse population and income levels. According to the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks, “distance learning holds the promise of providing yet another mechanism by which community colleges can bring education to a non-traditional student body.”
More than ever, Americans are in need of our community colleges to provide the training and certification needed to ease millions through experience deficits, career changes, and retirement reversals. Anecdotal evidence suggests they are again equal to the challenge of their charter.
With more than 1,800 community colleges, the United States system is as robust in its commitment to community and lifelong learning as it is replete with budgetary and curriculum issues. While the majority of schools offer continuing education and degree programs online, few have the resources to develop and market their own curriculum to prospective students.
The Wedding Planning Institute is partnered with over 650 colleges and universities around the country offering distance learning and classroom sessions of the How to Start a Wedding Planning Business course. The online curriculum provides an enrollment and revenue booster to continuing education programs and a convenient and affordable answer to time and money challenged students.
Electronic learning has influenced business, government, education, and all manner of other industries by allowing for easy, inexpensive, and accurate dissemination of information and ideas. The advent of turnkey e-learning solutions and widespread familiarity with computer-based training tools has allowed our changing society to adapt to a more connected and competitive world.
The most successful continuing education programs in the WPI network fully understand the tremendous responsibility in providing students with the best education options by way of new and innovative delivery methods. Distance learning provides a win-win solution for the student seeking an affordable education and community colleges needing higher enrollment numbers.
Love helps many resist recession by bringing together the bride and groom, the WPI Certified Wedding Planner, the wedding planning student, and the community college in an effort to celebrate the commitment of two people to each other. When each element is in synch, everyone is successful.
